The federal Youth Advisory Groups allow government agencies to consult informed and engaged young people on emerging issues and strategies. Each group consists of eight 16 to 25 year olds from around Australia who provide advice directly to the department relevant to their group’s focus area.

Group membership and topics are refreshed annually. The 2024 groups are First Nations Education (Department of Education and National Indigenous Australians Agency), Creative Industries (Office for the Arts), Employment (Department of Employment and Workplace Relations), Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (Department of Social Services), Civic Engagement (Department of Home Affairs), and Safe and Supported (Department of Social Services).

Applications open in October of each year.
