Level up your civics learning and teaching with a series of free workshops for South Australian primary and secondary teachers. Meet your peers, engage with civics experts and leaders, and develop your own civics knowledge to take back to the classroom.

Civics on North Terrace: Government House Teacher Preview with Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia & Civics Activities with the Parliament of South Australia

Friday 19 April 2024, 9am-1pm

Join Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, at Government House, where she will discuss one of her key priorities: Civics and Citizenship in schools. Teachers will then preview the Government House School Tour experience. Afterwards, cross over to Parliament House for morning tea and information about the Governor’s Civics Awards for Schools program. Finish with a practical workshop of teaching tips for Civics & Citizenship and a walkthrough of Parliament House. Places are limited. Additional sessions will be considered based on demand.

Join Tyson Wood for a walk-through of teaching committees & parliamentary scrutiny. Tyson will discuss the background and prep for a lesson on this topic, the resources required, lesson set up, intended student outcomes and the associated task. This session suits
senior secondary teachers.
