The Balaklava museum was established in 1972 to display and preserve the local history of the area. The museum displays a large collection of local historical records and photographs as well as many household items from the early days. A second site also exhibits an agricultural collection which includes farming equipment, horse drawn vehicles, and a replica of Ted Anders blacksmith shop.
